Design & Disability Exhibition
The “Design and Disability” exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum (7 June 2025 to February 2026) explored the contributions of Disabled, Deaf, and neurodivergent people to design from the 1940s to today, featuring 170 objects across three sections – Visibility, Tools, and Living that highlight how disabled designers have challenged ableism and reshaped design through lived experience.
Open Style Lab presented two projects on inclusive fashion and collaborative design
The HackAbility Tool Kit, an adaptive kit co-designed with teenage girls with disabilities from NYU Langone Health’s Initiative for Women with Disabilities, which includes tools and materials to modify clothing for easier dressing;
and work from the Accessible Footwear programme, where designers, occupational therapists, and disabled collaborators developed customisable footwear solutions, including a parametric model for accessible shoe design.
